Scared the Bejeses out of me.

By Alvie N Leeper

The last two months have not been very agreeable. On our regular Doctors visit for renewal prescriptions my wife's Doctor Proclaimed she should get to the Hospital Emergency Room post haste.!!! My wife is a fine up standing lady and is very intelligent but her parents were born in Vienna, Austria and she inherited a Stubborn streak. She had an irregular heart rhythm and needed treatment now but to her ,she didn't need that and she wasn't going to the Hospital. To say, I had to use some rather harsh words to get her into the Hospital would be an under statement. Our daughter having ensconced her in the care of the Emergency staff proceeded to wait through the progress of the slow, new emergency arrivals of greater trauma, and just slow methods to find out her Doctor was right.
My wife is 82 and I am 83 and like all people we have some set things in our life. One being a pure bred Maltese dog(Baby) ,7 yrs old,who my wife has spoiled totally and has never been left alone. Thus the reason our daughter waited at the Hospital while I baby sat at home with dear Abby.
After several hours my wife was allowed to come home. Armed with her Blood thinners and such she embarked on the new adventure of care for your heart. We settled down to a semblance of normality. However it was only three days she experienced a sharp pain and swelling in her left ankle.
Yes ,your right a sharp set back. A blood clot that had to be removed surgically. The operation and recovery took 7 days and we thought at last, we can get back to living again. That's when we were hit again as it seemed she needed a pacemaker. So off to the Hospital again and after being shufted off several time she finally came home after another seven days.
To say this has been a bad dream is putting it lightly. You are always above being vulnerable to sickness and injury but somehow these things creap up on you and strike you low.
Thank God she is doing much better and the future looks a great deal rosier.
I wish no one will have to endure this kind of shock now or in the future. alvien
